Visual and verbal elements in the Nuit Blanche ( the White Night) (2002-2010)

This paper explores the relationship between image and text through a comparative analysis of several art works made during the event known in France as La Nuit Blanche. This initiative takes place in October in many French places -here, Paris- in order to bring together contemporary artistic interventions which may question the urban space through artistic proposals carried out all the night through, to finish at dawn.Though the set up of the works may vary widely, this paper Body deals only with those in which text is used as a plastic and formal element. The works are exposed in public, usually outdoors.

In these works, which we call geo-grammatical, how are the Queen Metal Headboard visual and verbal elements articulated? How are the very acts of reading and looking transformed by this articulation of image and text? What happens when the text is set out in a place where the visual aspects are overwhelming and the iconic dimension of a text acquires equal or even more importance than the linguistic dimension?.
